"The First Stage of the Romanian Campaign"
Tasvir-i Efkâr, 27 September 1916
"As the first month of Romania’s intervention in the war comes to an end, the Romanian Army, whose rapid advance the Entente Powers had anticipated, upon crossing the Hungarian borders, finds itself confronting unexpectedly a fresh and reinforced defensive position at every turn, and has begun to consider what course of action to take.
The strike that was expected and hoped to be delivered against Bulgaria instead fell upon the Romanian-Russian Army in Dobruja, affecting not only Romania but also disorienting the entire Entente alliance."
Map caption: "This map shows the directions of the Romanian Army’s offensive operations within Transylvania, according to the official Austro-Hungarian reports, indicating that the Romanians were able to occupy only towns near the border. It also shows the positions of the German-Austro-Hungarian offensive, which extended from Hateg to the Vulcan Pass."
